Since we started in 2014, we’ve been asked a lot of questions about who we are and our approach. The one question that we have been asked the most is a variation of these: “What’s your juice?” “What’s your differentiator?” and “What makes your team special?”

At Fujisan Marketing, it all starts with thoughtful execution. Thoughtful execution is the cornerstone of any viable strategic plan or engagement. Whether you are launching or running a business, or a marketing program, thoughtful execution is the key to the results you are looking for.

What does thoughtful execution mean and how can it be implemented? Let’s start by taking a look at the ingredients that are needed to get to thoughtful execution.

Discovery: Be Curious – Curiosity is key in a strategic effort. Questioning assumptions and continually going back to question the trajectory toward the goal is essential throughout the process. We enact this by taking the time up-front to learn about our clients’ business. We review their goals, objectives, target demographic and current marketing initiatives to help determine what success looks like. We learn through questions, questions and more questions, and that never stops.

Planning & Customization – Every situation and every business is unique, and that includes the team. A “one-size-fits-all” approach to a strategic effort is destined to fail. In our work, after we have completed a deliberate discovery phase, we build a customized plan for every client. This plan is based on everything we have learned about our client, their vertical and how we can complement their existing efforts and team with our own expertise in marketing.

Building Partnerships that Fit – It is rare that a strategic effort can be accomplished alone. To ensure success in a partnership, it’s important to consider compatibility. How will the teams and people integrate and complement each other? Over the years, we’ve discovered there are certain groups we work best with. Mutual respect and empathy among all team members is a key ingredient. Open and honest communications are essential, and this goes both ways.

Defining Thoughtful Execution in Digital Marketing

Now that we have covered the ingredients, let’s get to the definition. To us, thoughtful execution is the carrying out of a strategic digital marketing plan while showing consideration for the needs of our clients and their success.

1) Impeccable Character – One of our team’s highest priorities is to be open and honest with our clients. Sometimes this can take great courage…to tell a client what needs to be said even if we know they might not like it is no easy feat. This also includes communicating in a professional, kind, empathetic and respectful manner at all times.

2) Accountability – We want to make decisions with the knowledge that our actions control not only our own destiny but that of our clients’ as well. If we say that it will get done by a certain day and time, it will be done. We make sure that we are always following through and following up.

3) The Team Comes First – We want everyone to embrace their role on our team and use it to lift others. Our team isn’t just comprised of the people who work here. We view our clients as teammates as well. When we understand everyone’s wants and needs and we are working in sync, great results happen.

4) Excellence and a Growth Mindset – We demand more of ourselves than our clients do, and we always strive to do it better than it’s ever been done before. Our industry is ever-changing. New tools and channels are being introduced every day, and we aim to not only stay on top of these, but to also incorporate them into our services.

5) Be Curious and Always Educate – The best client outcomes result from asking the right questions. We always try to question everything and ask how we can do it better. Digital marketing language, tools and tactics are very complex, so we work hard to simplify this for our clients so they feel confident in understanding what we are doing and how it will impact their business.
